• Explain the meaning of an Information Technology (IT) career.
• Identify different career opportunities in Information Technology.
• Identify careers related to software, hardware, networking and data.
• Describe some emerging digital careers such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity and robotics.
• State the basic skills required for careers in Information Technology.
• Explain the importance of Information Technology professionals in society.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE / ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

Students have previously learned about digital technology and common digital devices. They have seen or used computers, smartphones and other digital devices and may already know that different people are responsible for creating, maintaining and using these technologies.

1. Introduction	The teacher asks students to mention different digital devices they know and asks: "Who are the people that create, repair, maintain or develop these technologies?" The teacher introduces the topic, Career Opportunities in Information Technology.	Students mention devices such as computers, smartphones, tablets and televisions. They respond to the teacher's questions and listen to the introduction.
2. Meaning of IT Careers	The teacher explains that an IT career involves working with computers, digital technologies, information systems, software, networks, data and other technology systems. The teacher explains that people with different skills perform different roles in the technology industry.	Students listen, ask questions and explain in their own words what an IT career means.
3. Careers in Software	The teacher introduces careers such as software developer/programmer, web developer, mobile application developer and software tester. The teacher explains the basic duties performed in these careers.	Students identify software-related careers and state what some of the professionals do.
4. Careers in Hardware and Networking	The teacher explains careers such as computer hardware technician, computer engineer, network administrator and network technician. The teacher describes how these professionals install, maintain and manage computer hardware and networks.	Students identify hardware and networking careers and discuss their functions.
5. Careers in Data and Emerging Technologies	The teacher introduces data-related careers such as data analyst and database administrator. The teacher also introduces emerging careers such as Artificial Intelligence specialist, cybersecurity professional and robotics engineer.	Students identify the careers and discuss how these professionals contribute to modern technology.
6. Skills Needed for IT Careers	The teacher explains important skills including problem-solving, creativity, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, programming, digital literacy and continuous learning.	Students mention skills they think are important for someone who wants to work in Information Technology.
7. Class Activity	The teacher divides students into small groups. Each group is assigned one IT career and asked to state: 1. Name of the career 2. What the professional does 3. Skills required 4. Where the professional can work	Students work in groups, discuss their assigned careers and present their findings to the class.
8. Evaluation and Summary	The teacher asks evaluation questions, corrects students' responses and summarizes the major points covered in the lesson.	Students answer the questions, make corrections where necessary and participate in the summary.

TEACHER'S REFLECTION

The teacher should assess students' understanding of different IT careers and identify areas where students require further explanation. Students should be encouraged to develop digital skills and explore technology-related careers according to their interests and abilities.
