PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE / ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

Students have previously learned about computer networks, the Internet, web services, email, cloud storage and safe practices when using digital services. They are familiar with using passwords and accessing websites and online accounts.

PRESENTATION STEPS

1. Introduction	The teacher asks students what they normally do when using a computer, smartphone or the Internet. The teacher asks questions such as: "What would happen if someone obtained your password without your permission?" and "How can we keep our online accounts safe?"	Students respond to the questions and mention some ways they currently protect their accounts and personal information.
2. Meaning of Cybersecurity	The teacher explains that cybersecurity involves protecting computers, networks, devices, accounts and information from unauthorised access, misuse, damage or other digital threats.	Students listen, take notes and explain cybersecurity in their own words.
3. Importance of Cybersecurity	The teacher explains that cybersecurity helps protect personal information, accounts, devices, school records and other digital resources.	Students identify information and digital resources that should be protected.
4. Types of Cyberattacks	The teacher introduces common cyberattacks such as phishing, malware, password attacks, identity theft and social engineering. Simple examples are given to help students understand each one.	Students identify the different types of cyberattacks and give examples of situations in which users may be targeted.
5. Phishing	The teacher explains phishing as an attempt to trick users into revealing sensitive information or clicking malicious links, often through fake emails, messages or websites.	Students examine sample messages and identify warning signs such as suspicious links, unexpected requests and unusual sender information.
6. Safe Online Habits	The teacher explains safe practices such as using strong passwords, keeping passwords private, avoiding suspicious links, updating software and signing out of shared computers.	Students list safe online habits and explain why each practice is important.
7. Practical Activity	The teacher presents several simple online situations. Students are asked to decide whether each situation is safe or unsafe and explain what action should be taken.	Students analyse the situations, identify possible risks and suggest safe responses.
8. Conclusion	The teacher reviews the meaning of cybersecurity, common cyberattacks and safe online habits. The teacher emphasises the importance of protecting personal information.	Students answer review questions and state the major safety rules learned.
