BEHAVIOURAL OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
- Identify common components of a computer network.
- Define a server and explain its function in a network.
- Explain the meaning and function of a client computer.
- Describe the functions of switches, routers and hubs.
- Identify common network media used to connect devices.
- Distinguish between wired and wireless network connections.
- State examples of devices and media used in computer networking.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE / ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
Students have previously learnt the meaning of a computer network and the reasons why computers and other devices are connected in a network. They are familiar with basic computer hardware and have seen devices such as computers, routers and network cables.

The teacher should assess students' ability to identify network components and explain their functions. Students who have difficulty distinguishing switches, routers and hubs should be given additional practical demonstrations and diagrams.
