PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE / ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

Students have learned about digital technology and different digital devices. They have also seen or used computers and are familiar with basic devices such as keyboards, mice and monitors.

PRESENTATION

1. Introduction	The teacher displays a computer or pictures of computer components and asks students to identify the parts they recognize. The teacher introduces the topic, Basic Computer Hardware Components.	Students observe the computer components and identify devices they already know.
2. Meaning of Hardware	The teacher explains that computer hardware refers to the physical parts of a computer that can be seen and touched. The teacher gives examples such as keyboard, mouse, monitor and system unit.	Students listen, observe the physical components and give examples of computer hardware.
3. Input Devices	The teacher explains that input devices are used to enter data and instructions into a computer. The teacher demonstrates the keyboard and mouse and introduces other input devices such as scanner, microphone and webcam.	Students identify input devices and explain how they are used to enter data into a computer.
4. Output Devices	The teacher explains that output devices present information processed by the computer to the user. The teacher demonstrates the monitor and introduces the printer, speakers and projector.	Students identify output devices and state what each device is used for.
5. Functions of Hardware Components	The teacher displays different hardware components and explains their functions. For example, the keyboard is used for entering text and commands, while the monitor displays information.	Students observe the components, identify them and state their functions.
6. Simple Hardware Maintenance	The teacher explains simple ways to care for computer hardware, including keeping devices clean, handling them carefully, keeping liquids away from computers, providing proper ventilation and shutting down the computer correctly.	Students mention ways of caring for computer hardware and demonstrate proper handling of selected devices.
7. Class Activity	The teacher displays several hardware components. Students are asked to identify each component, classify it as input or output where appropriate, and state its function.	Students work individually or in groups to identify and classify the hardware components and state their functions.
8. Evaluation and Summary	The teacher asks evaluation questions, corrects students' answers and summarizes the main points of the lesson.	Students answer the questions, make corrections and participate in the summary.

TEACHER'S REFLECTION

The teacher should observe whether students can correctly identify common hardware components and distinguish between input and output devices. Students who have difficulty identifying the devices should be given additional practical demonstrations using actual computer laboratory equipment.
