Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
For decades, computers could only execute exact instructions written by human programmers. If a programmer did not explicitly type a rule, the computer could not handle the task. However, modern computer systems can learn from data, recognize faces, translate languages, and make autonomous choices. This shift from static machines to learning systems is powered by Artificial Intelligence.
1. Meaning of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence simulates how the human mind processes data. It allows a computer system to discover hidden patterns, adapt to new inputs, and improve its performance automatically over time without manual updates.
2. Examples of AI Applications
AI is no longer just a concept found in science fiction films; it actively runs behind the scenes of many digital services we use daily:
- Virtual Assistants: Voice-activated assistants like Apple's Siri, Google Assistant, or Amazon Alexa use AI to recognize spoken text and answer user queries.
- Recommendation Systems: Video platforms like YouTube or Netflix, and music apps like Spotify, use AI patterns to study what you view and suggest new content customized to your interests.

- Academic Dishonesty: Students using generative AI tools to write their school assignments instead of thinking for themselves can harm their own learning and critical thinking skills.
